Artificial Intelligence

involves the emulation and replication of human intelligence within computer systems and machines, affording them the capacity to undertake functions such as learning, logical reasoning, and decision-making, thereby achieving the artificial reproduction of human intelligence.

Machine Learning

allows computer systems to learn from data, automatically discover rules and patterns hidden within the data, and make predictions and decisions based on those findings.

Deep Learning

employs a multi-layer neural network, typically with numerous hidden layers, to autonomously extract features from data and acquire a nonlinear mapping between input and output.

Evolutionary Computation

simulates the biological evolution process by iteratively advancing a population of individuals (solution candidates), where individuals with superior evaluation values are more likely to survive, ultimately finding the optimal solution through a process of trial and error.

Call for Students

We are recruiting students interested in artificial intelligence for our lab, with a special welcome to those in software engineering, computer science, machine learning, deep learning, or related fields. Please inquire at any time and contact Jun YU (yujun@ie.niigata-u.ac.jp) to apply as a research student.
