About Us
Purpose
Big data activation technology is based on information and communication technologies such as real-world sensing technology, Big Data analysis, and Artifical Intelligence as demonstrated by Deep Learning, and used to solve problems by generating new knowledge from large-scale data accumulated in research fields such as medicine, engineering, agriculture, and science.
With these technologies at the core, we aim to create knowledge and value that transcends conventional boundaries and implement them in society by bringing together researchers from across a University’s fields with a high level of ethics and data literacy. In addition, we aim to create innovations in each research field in collaboration with companies and local governments outside the university. In addition, we aim to improve the research potential of Data Science by creating an environment in which students can learn the latest technologies in the relevant fields.

The Research Center has three major initiatives.
Activity Policy
Our activity policy for FY2022 is as follows.
1. Training of Data Scientists and AI Technicians through University Education and Workshops
- Consideration for the Establishment of an Information and AI Degree Program in Graduate School
- Activation of BDA Student Research Groups through Assignments and Practical Exercises
2. Promotion of interdisciplinary research in different fields with big data-related technologies at its core
- Promotion of Sub-Projects within the Center
- Sharing of Data for Educational and Research Purposes
3. Contribution to the community through industry-academia collaboration
- Promotion of Data-Driven Innovation Activities in Niigata
- Acquisition of external funds
